KG Senior to Class V

From KG Senior to Class 5, Bless International School has timetabled the following subjects —

English Language

The aim of Bless International School’s English Language Curriculum, mapped closely to the statutory guidelines of the British National Curriculum, is to develop students who leave the school with a high standard of language and literacy, and the ability to communicate effectively through both spoken and written mediums.

Bless International School aims to ensure that all pupils —

  • read easily, fluently and with good understanding;
  • develop the habit of reading widely and often, for both pleasure and information;
  • acquire a wide vocabulary, an understanding of grammar and knowledge of linguistic conventions for reading, writing and spoken language; 
  • appreciate our rich and varied literary heritage;
  •  write clearly, accurately and coherently, adapting their language and style in and for a range of contexts, purposes and audiences;
  • use discussion in order to learn, elaborate and explain clearly their understanding and ideas; 
  • are competent in the arts of speaking and listening, making formal presentations, demonstrating to others and participating in debate.

English Literature

The Bless International School English Literature curriculum allows our students to enter a word of inspiration, imagination, and creativity, while also developing skills that will have lifelong use in today’s modern world. Literature provides the chance for students to see the world through the eyes of others and make sense of everything that is going on around them. We have designed our English Literature program to enhance our students’ skills in reading, writing, analysis, and persuasion.


Mathematics

The Bless International School mathematics curriculum has been closely mapped to the British National Curriculum with the stated aims are to ensure that all pupils —

  • become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, including through varied and frequent practice with increasingly complex problems over time, so that pupils develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately;
  • reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language;
  • can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and nonroutine problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking down problems into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions.

Science

The Bless International School science curriculum has been closely mapped to the British National Curriculum with the stated aims are to ensure that all pupils —

  • develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics;
  • develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them;
  •  are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.

Bangla

At Bless International School we consider the study of Bangla to be as important as the study of English. This is part of our ongoing commitment to creating a sense of societal duty amongst all those who come to the school. Our Bangla curriculum ensures that students —

  • read and respond to material from a variety of sources;
  • respond to materials culturally relevant to Bangladesh;
  • construct and convey meaning in both spoken and written language, matching style to audience and purpose.

History

Studying history gives children an introduction to the major events which have shaped the world and global relations over the course of time. The Bless International School History curriculum provides students the opportunity to —

  • Develop an awareness of the past, using common words and phrases to describe the passage of time;
  • Know where the people and events they study fit within a chronological framework, and identify similarities and differences between ways of life in different periods;
  • Use a wide vocabulary of everyday historical terms;
  • Ask and answer questions, choosing and using parts of stories and other sources to show that they know and understand key features of events;
  • Understand some of the ways in which we find out about the past, and identify different ways in which it is represented.

Geography

The Bless International School curriculum for geography aims to ensure that all pupils —

  • develop contextual knowledge of the location of places, seas, and oceans, including their defining physical and human characteristics;
  • understand the processes that give rise to key physical and human geographical features of the world, how these are interdependent, and how they bring about spatial variation and change over time;
  • are competent in the geographical skills needed to collect, analyze and communicate with a range of data gathered through experiences of fieldwork that deepen their understanding of geographical processes;
  • interpret a range of sources of geographical information, including maps, diagrams, globes, aerial photographs, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS);
  • communicate geographical information in a variety of ways, including through maps and writing at length.

PSHE and Citizenship

Our PSHE and Citizenship education aims to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, teamwork, and critical thinking in the context of three core themes: health and wellbeing, interaction with others, and living in the wider world.


The curriculum ensures that students develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes to ensure they stay healthy and safe as well as to equip them for life and the world of work.
